About me & my art”Painting is an exciting adventure in matching one’s passion and emotional involvement of an object, person or scene, with the physical expression of it. I find it a thrilling experience to apply color, creating light, shadow, and design and watch a visual creation take form that oftentimes is surprising and fascinating in its development. I have especially loved working in watercolor. The medium itself has a mind of its own and it is so fascinating to partner with the paint, water, brush and paper to create a painting. Oftentimes it becomes something totally different than what you might have planned. The beauty of the transparent paint colors, combining with the fluid movement of the water creates wonderful designs and shapes.”
More about my art:
I have my own art school, where I have about 30 students (and growing) from the age of 7 years to high school kids. I teach them basic drawing skills, painting in watercolor, acrylic, collage mixed media, pastel, charcoal, and oil. My students have won district art competitions to state level PTA reflections in visual art. Four of them got chosen for 2008 Olympic calendar design from Agha Khan Foundation. They also participate in District and other children’s competitions.
What others say:
For Radha, art is a window to harmony and color. She tries to keep the pigments fresh but simultaneously experiments with value and composition. According to her, making art is a type of catharsis, and it brings to her joy and tranquility.
Radha’s artistic journey begins at the age of seven, when her father showed her how two different watercolors explode when they touch each other. Later in high school she started taking art lessons from a mural artist in rural India, but her dad always was my primary art instructor and critic. Nevertheless she finished her degree in Biology so she could be easily eligible for a job that could pay her bills. She moved to Texas, her land of opportunity in 1988. Radha started taking classes from nearby universities and colleges. She studied graphic design and web design where she learned how to simplify life into art.
