In drawing, I have found a place where I can get lost, at least for the moment. Any stress will dissipate, and worries seem to disappear. The whole experience lends me to a feeling of accomplishment. As I get close to the finished product, I also get more excited. I know the work is done when I have captured the essence of the subject to the best of the ability of the medium involved as well as my own personal skill. It always amazes me, when I have finished and I step back to look at the work. From the beginning of my artistic endeavors, I have worked in various mediums, beginning first in oil, moving to watercolor, pastels, pen and ink and collage. Most recently, I have begun to experiment with colored pencils. Of all the mediums that I have worked in, I find colored pencils to be the most exciting. I love the vibrant, translucent colors they produce, as well as the ability to render photo-realistic paintings. As I have a keen eye for attention to detail, I find working a painting that requires me to focus completely and render detail in this very finely tuned manner, to be very stimulating as well as challenging. Color Pencils provides me with all of this.
