Meding was raised in London,
U.K., obtained a PhD in Germany, and immigrated to the United States in
1990. Her art career began in California and she currently works from a
studio in Allen, Texas. She is an award-winning self-taught artist and has
taken numerous workshops with nationally known artists including R. Doug
Walton, Jane E. Jones, Betsy Dillard Stroud, Fran Larsen, Miles Batt and
Mark Mehaffey.
She is a versatile
semi-abstract artist who works in a range of media including watercolor,
acrylic and mixed-media. Her work is contemporary using predominantly
geometric shapes and/or bold curves. Her excellent design and compositional
structures are testimony to the many hours of thought and imagineering that
she devotes to each piece. She has a passion for interesting shapes
particularly puzzles and musical notes. Her
works are exceptionally creative, technically skilled and always wrapped in
harmonious fields of colors.
Carol Benson, a juror at Visual Arts Society of Texas 39th Annual State
Exhibit verbally described her work as “progressive and forward-thinking”
Her latest collection of
unique mixed-media feature much of her playful creativity and texturally
these include hand-made dichroic glass, metals, exotic threads and fabrics.
Meding has received numerous
awards and prizes in all media that she paints. She has exhibited in many
local, State, and National shows. Her work is in numerous private
collections in Germany, U.K. California and Texas. She has had several solo
shows and numerous group exhibitions. She lectures on professionally framing
of artwork to art societies.
