I use different media in my artwork. I like drawing with graphite and use other drawing materials for life drawing and printmaking. I appreciate oil paint because with it I learned the dynamics of color, shape and design in still life, landscape and portraits. Later I focused on pastel painting, especially for portraits and landscapes. Watercolor and water media expanded my horizons into conceptual art still using realistic subjects. Sometimes I like to mix media but often I prefer using a dominant medium in my work. My latest foray into technique has been the laborious and various techniques of printmaking. This has increased my attention to the importance of value in any work of art.
To me, art is a life long learning experience, both in technique and self -realization. Using different media and tools allows me to express myself in a way that feels right for my ideas. Sometimes, I just like to play with whatever is available to me in the moment.”
