“I like to express the poignancy of milestone events and inspirational moments, whether spontaneous or anchored in ritual. I believe that when we treat ourselves, our ecosystem, and others in our lives with care and respect, we contribute to our planet’s healing. My art is a way I contribute to this healing. I invite others to enter into a dialogue with my work and spur their desire to clarify their meaning of life. Nature is my constant source of wonder and appreciation, beauty, and hope. I use different media in my artwork. I like drawing with graphite and use other drawing materials for life drawing and printmaking. I appreciate oil paint because I learned the dynamics of color, shape, and design in still life, landscape, and portraits. Later I focused on pastel painting, especially for portraits and landscapes. Watercolor and water media expanded my horizons into conceptual art, still using realistic subjects. Sometimes I like to mix media, but I often prefer using a dominant medium in my work.”
